No shit? It is obvious that some people, SOME FUCKING PEOPLE, are trying to lawyer their way out of conferring any “officially protected” status they pay lip service to (LGBTQ, non-nt, etc) on gender-non-conforming men, because hating on gender-non-conforming men serves as a “safe”, deniable, universally approved outlet for misogyny?

Again, recent experiences are making me feel that in the parlance of toxic/bullying SJ, the motte of “cishet white men” is “privileged people who do harm”, but the bailey is specifically “gender non-conforming men”. Because it offers these people the rush of reinforcing the actual power structure while dressing up as a non-conformist rebel.

(Or, I mean, some of them might argue how they really help and protect geek girls by going on and on about FAT AWKWARD RECLUSIVE VIRGINS. I’ve gotten this spiel too.)

“gender-non-conforming” here means not just “has traits typically considered feminine"— although of course that describes bronies— but also "bad at Man without necessarily being someone who would be good at Woman”, I think. Your fat awkward recluse is going to be gender-non-conforming for all genders.

Certainly, but the way the gender binary works, it would be correct to say that special little hells are constructed for anyone who doesn’t fit either pole, and from one of the poles that place looks like the opposite pole because we’ve been forced not to see anything non-binary. And so cis men see GNC men as a valid target for misogyny while cis women see them as the outgroup.
